The grass is greener...on this side!

43% of your workforce are likely curious and open to new job opportunities. They may not be actively seeking but are keeping an eye out, checking if the grass is greener on the other side. This is what comes out of the most recent survey thanks to misco Insights into Job Seeker Dynamics 2025/2026 that can be downloaded from here: https://lnkd.in/gDmrR4G4

What would you like your team to say? The grass is greener on this side or the other side?

While it is not always within the control of employers as to whether people stay or leave (sometimes people need a change and have to move on), there is much that can be done through the right retention strategy:

➡️ Employee Engagement - Ensuring your people are well engaged and happy - 59% of participants in the above survey say that they found their best job through recommendations from their network - what are your people saying about you (including the ones that leave)?

➡️ Recruiting right from the start - choosing the right candidates with the right attitudes and a growth mindset

➡️ Career Growth - Providing training opportunities to enable employees willing to grow to find ways to grow in their career (and therefore their salary package) internally rather than on the 'other side'

➡️ Competent management and leadership is key - Train and develop your people managers ensuring they have the right skills to lead and engage their teams effectively.

➡️ Compensation - Ensure to have a fair salary structure, integrated with career growth paths.

While putting a retention strategy in place does not guarantee that people do not move on, it impacts employee turnover rate and when done in the right way, employees who choose to move on will do so in a good manner, recommending your as an employer of choice and who knows....maybe come back saying 'The grass in greener on this side!'
